Cold-Rolled Sheet Report & Forecast, a companion essay to the Steel Flash Report, contains the steel marketplace’s only definitive reporting of what buyers in manufacturing and construction actually are paying for flat-rolled steel—and what they expect to pay in the future for sheet and other steel mill products.
Latest Cold-Rolled Sheet Report & Forecast – February 26, 2010, issue preview:
Transaction prices are at a 16-month high point
Cold-rolled steel sheet in coil cost an average $695/ton this month, buyers report. That’s 18% higher than the recent nadir of $500 in December 2009 and the highest in 16 months. The price average isn’t the $750 the mills have posted as list. But, since the mills appear to be in a cost-push business model just now, some analysts see another $30-$50 increase in coming weeks.
