Cold-rolled steel sheet in coil cost an average $695/ton this month, buyers report. That’s 18% higher than the recent nadir of $500 in December 2009 and the highest in 16 months. The price average isn’t the $750 the mills have posted as list. But, since the mills appear to be in a cost-push business model just now, some analysts see another $30-$50 increase in coming weeks.
